Every Wednesday night, Blackwater Draw, a local brewery downtown Bryan, draws together groups of friends from across the BCS area to test each other’s knowledge and enjoy a night out on the town. The event is run by Live Event Trivia, a nationwide trivia service that hosts games all across the country, including at Blackwater Draw.

Over the past several years, trivia has gained popularity in the local community, as it is a low cost form of entertainment that offers friendly competition and a great place to socialize. At Blackwater Draw, competing trivia teams are encouraged to converse and collaborate with each other, while testing their knowledge of miscellaneous facts. These events draw a variety of people together – from the long-time regulars to people who just came in for a beer and stayed for trivia. While enjoying Blackwater’s many handcrafted brews, trivia players can also snack on food from Blackwater Bites, while being quizzed on various categories such as music, current events, and historical literature.

Each week, the questions change so no one knows what will be asked. While participants are not allowed to use their phones during the event, Live Event Trivia does post subtle hints on their official social media accounts on Bluesky, Instagram, and Facebook.

At the end of each night, the team with the highest score is often awarded a prize. For many of the regulars at Blackwater Draw, trivia on Wednesdays has become a part of their weekly routine as they gather their friends and family to test the limits of their knowledge of random factoids.

“Regardless of the score at the end of the night I always leave smiling, full of beer, and grateful for the community they continue to build at Blackwater,” described one regular during this past week’s trivia event.
