Jonathan Guajardo

Jonathan Guajardo is a native San Antonian who relocated to College Station in the Fall of 2019. He attended Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas where he graduated in 2009 with honors. He then chose to stay in SA for college, accepting a full scholarship to The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where he studied Communication Arts and graduated with his B.A. and M.A. in 2013 and 2014. While at UIW, he served three terms as Student Body President, two terms on the Board of Trustees, and three terms on the UIW Alumni Board.

Upon graduating with his M.A. from UIW in 2014, he started his own company, GA Media Productions, which specializes in professional video, audio, live, and photographic productions. He also founded an online newspaper called the San Antonio Sentinel that focuses in covering local news, lifestyle, and business stories in the San Antonio area.

A product of an Aggie family, he fell in love with the BCS area at an early age and his goal has always been to move to College Station and teach at Texas A&M University. Jonathan now lives out his childhood dream, teaching as an Associate Professor of the Practice in the Department of Communication at Texas A&M. As Co-Director of the Creative Media Lab, he teaches his students about the integration and promise of new media and emerging technologies in the 21st Century.

Jaymeson Hacker ‘26

Jaymeson Hacker is a native Texan who was born and raised in San Antonio, and is currently pursuing degrees in both political science and communications. She is a senior graduating in August of 2026, but remains heavily involved on campus, currently serving as the Head Director of Ring Dance, an 1879 Ambassador for the Association of Former Students, the Relations Executive for COSGA (within the Student Government Association), and a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Off campus, Jaymeson also works as a Manager at Sweet Eugene's House of Java. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, volunteer, needlepoint, and write! Upon graduation, Jaymeson plans to move to Washington D.C. to work in the press and political communication on Capitol Hill.

Grimm ‘26

Jenna Grimm is a senior Journalism major with a minor in communication from Sugar land, Texas. She plans to graduate from A&M May of 2026 and go into sideline sports reporting. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, baking, and watching movies.

Ashely Bautista ‘26

Ashely is a Mexican-American senior communication major with a minor in journalism from Navasota, Texas, next door from College Station. She is a first-generation college student, a photographer for The Battalion at Texas A&M University, and a proud member of the Lambda Lambda chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. When she’s not behind the camera, Ashely enjoys spending time with friends and family (including her dog, Rocket, and cat, Maggie), catching up on her favorite TV shows, and listening to music to unwind. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in the news industry and aspires to work as a photojournalist.

Candace Obi,

Born and raised in Houston Texas, Candace Obi is a third-year Human Resources Development major with two minors in journalism and business. She has always had a passion for writing and has used this zeal to write multiple journalistic pieces for publications like the BCS Chronicle and HerCampus. In her downtime, Candace is working to release her own digital fashion magazine called “Vixen” which is inspired by her love of all things fun, feminine, and unconventional. In the future, Candace aspires to work internationally and aims to create her own female-led newspaper.

Shalina Sabih,

Shalina is a Pakistani-American journalism major from Dallas, TX.  She is also minoring in communication. She plans to graduate from Texas A&M in the fall of 2024. She moved to Texas in 8th grade from Karachi, Pakistan. She is a first-generation college student and a sports writer for The Battalion at Texas A&M. Shalina's favorite sport is football and she loves the Dallas Cowboys. She wants to pursue a career in journalism after college and also plans on attending law school. She pursued journalism in honor of her late grandfather, Baqa Uddin who was a well known reporter in Karachi, Pakistan.

Sophie Villareal ‘25

Former Contributing Writer

Sophie is a native Texan who was born in Katy, TX and raised in Sugar Land, TX. Raised by two Longhorn-Fanatics, after graduating from Fort Bend Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugar Land, she decided to pursue a degree in Communications with a minor in Film and Media studies and leave behind the burnt orange for maroon by choosing to attend Texas A&M! She is a first-generation Latinx female college student. In her downtime, Sophie enjoys playing basketball at the Student REC Center at Texas A&M, listening to various types of music and podcasts, and watching just about every sport known to man and talking about them with other sports fanatics. She has two loving dogs, Texas and Ginger who are the highlight of her day. Post-graduation, Sophie hopes to land a job in the field of sports media production.

Rhett Brady ‘22

Born and raised in and around Austin, TX, Rhett has always had a passion for writing. A senior studying communication and journalism, Rhett will graduate in the fall of 2022 with a BA from Texas A&M University. If he isn’t writing for the Chronicle, his hobbies include coin collecting, playing video games, watching movies, conducting research, and taking photos of beautiful vistas. Rhett hopes to work in new media after graduating college, and his dream job is to own a precious metals trading and exchange company.

James McKissick ‘21

Former Staff Writer/Multimedia Intern

James is a native Texan who was born in Lufkin and lived briefly in Grapevine before settling in Houston. Raised by two Aggies, after graduating from Lone Star College with an Associate of the Arts degree, he was able to pursue his dream of becoming an Aggie himself, and is currently finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication Media Studies with a minor in Journalism. In his down time James enjoys bargain hunting at garage sales and thrift shops to add to his video game collection, hanging out with friends and exploring the great outdoors, fixing and modifying electronics, and working on media projects. Post graduation James hopes to land a job in the field of media production.
