  • The business began as just a hobby during the pandemic, later expanding into a downtown staple for many.

  • Bojo’s focuses on specialty coffee drinks and house-roasted beans, highlighting the care put into the product.

  • Since opening its downtown location, the coffee shop has become a regular gathering place for students, residents, and visitors in the area.

Tucked into downtown Bryan, Bojo’s Coffee Shop has become more than just your plain-Jane stop for coffee. The locally owned cafe has built a reputation as a homey welcoming space where students, Texas A&M employees, and residents can meet, work, or just simply enjoy the space. Its combination of comforting drinks, fresh pastries, and community atmosphere draws in a line of patrons all throughout the day.

The shop started as a hobby during the pandemic in 2020. During this tumultuous time, owners Cole and Megan Mayer made the choice to change career trajectories from the ministry and nursing fields, embracing an entrepreneurial journey. Later in 2023, according to the Bojo Coffee Co. website, they decided to move overseas to the country of Georgia – hence where they acquired the name Borjomi. From there, they felt called to start a business based on Cole's love for roasting, and Megan's love for coffee – Bojo’s Coffee. After arriving back to the U.S., they decided to hit the ground running with their business and haven't stopped since, recently turning their coffee cart business to a full shop in Downtown Bryan.

“The fact that we are on main street feels like an honor,” Megan said. “It just feels like such a big privilege to be here.”

Overall community engagement plays a huge role in Bojo's identity, often catering weddings, events, and parties. Additionally, Bojo’s sells their specialty beans for sale inside their shop. For many, it Bojo’s has become a staple not only for coffee, but for the downtown Bryan community. Its location in downtown Bryan allows it to be accessible to students from nearby Texas A&M, Blinn, as well as residents looking for a neighborhood café.

“It’s just an opportunity to meet so many wonderful new people, like really genuinely – not just behind the bar, but when they sit there, and even when the regulars come in – and getting to meet and know them is just the most important and fun part to me,” Megan said.

In addition to its role as a social hub, Bojo’s is also known for its dedication to supporting local businesses. From local bakeries providing pastries, to honey provided by a local farmer in Brenham, Bojos is all about inclusivity and community infolvement. This focus has helped the shop serve a unique purpose that accomplishes more than just selling their own coffee, appealing to customers who value both quality and community impact.

The story of Bojo’s Coffee Shop is one of evolution from a small hobby to a downtown staple. Its growth has been gradual but intentional, guided by a commitment to quality, community, and connections. While the coffee and pastries draw in visitors, the neighborhood connections define the cafe's legacy. Bojo's journey illustrates how a business can evolve over time without losing sight of its roots, offering both a product and a story that reflects the spirit of the city it serves.
